Winehouse CD likely to be top-seller

LONDON, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Amy Winehouse's sophomore CD "Back to Black" is on track to be Britain's best-selling album of the year.

Released at the end of 2006, the album has already sold more than 1.5 million copies in Britain, the BBC said Wednesday.

Winehouse, who has made headlines this year due to her health, legal and personal troubles, was also nominated for six Grammy Awards.

With only a few days left in 2007, Leona Lewis' "Spirit" and Mika's "Life in Cartoon Motion" look like they will be the second and third best-selling albums of the year.

"Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black' is in pole position to be the year's biggest seller," said Matt Phillips, representative for the record label BPI. "But more than 6 million albums were sold last week, and as this weekend is likely to be the biggest of the year for music sales, Leona may close the gap."
