Death sought in Cash Money Bros. case

NEW YORK, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Damion "World" Hardy, an ex-boyfriend of rapper Lil' Kim, faces execution if convicted in New York in the slaying of an alleged drug-trafficking rival.

The U.S. Justice Department gave New York prosecutors clearance to seek the death penalty against Hardy, 33, who is alleged to have led the Cash Money Brothers gang, the New York Daily News reported Sunday.

Last week, a federal judge ordered Hardy to undergo a psychiatric exam to determine his competency to stand trial on federal racketeering and murder charges.

Hardy, indicted in 2005, is alleged to have ordered the Aug. 10, 2000, killing of Ivory Davis, which authorities was carried out by Eric "E-Bay" Moore, who also is facing the federal death penalty. After being wounded, Davis drove off and fatally struck a pedestrian, Swedish filmmaker Johan Camitz.

Hardy, who has served time for shooting at New York police, and Lil' Kim once lived together in her New Jersey mansion.
