CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Kid Rock, Robin Williams and Lewis Black headlined a USO Tour event for about 1,000 U.S. troops in Kuwait Monday.
The holiday performance also included appearances by Miss USA Rachel Black and elite cyclist Lance Armstrong, the American Forces Press Service said.
"I heard they were having Robin Williams and Kid Rock, and I just couldn't go to bed and miss that," said Army Spc. Brandon "Doc" Watson of Alabama's 1st Battalion, 167th Infantry, who drove a truck all day from Iraq to get there and wound up hearing Kid Rock sing "Sweet Home Alabama." "These guys deserve a lot of credit for coming out here and doing this. They have families, too, and you know they want to celebrate Christmas with them, but here they are."
Navy Adm. Michael G. Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, expressed his appreciation to the troops for the job they're doing.
"You are making a big difference in a very challenging part of the world," Mullen said.
After the show, the entertainers posed for pictures with service members and signed autographs.
