Leon Jackson wins 'X Factor'

LONDON, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Eighteen-year-old Scottish singer Leon Jackson has been declared the fourth-season winner of the U.K. TV singing competition show "The X Factor."

"It's not real," Jackson said as he was announced the winner of a $2 million recording contract. "Thank you for everybody who voted."

Coming in second and third places, respectively, were Rhydian Roberts and Same Difference.

Preliminary data show more than 12 million people watched Saturday's finale, during which Jackson performed with Australian pop star Kylie Minogue and each contestant sang a Christmas song, as well as their favorite number from the competition, the BBC reported.

Oddsmakers Ladbrokes called the outcome of the show "the biggest shock in the history of reality TV betting."

Jackson was considered a longshot as he went into the finales, while Roberts was thought to be the favorite to win.

"(Jackson) saved us from a bumper payout," Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg told the BBC. "He'll definitely be top of our Christmas card list."
