LONDON, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Australian actress Nicole Kidman has been awarded damages from a newspaper that wrongly reported she breached her contract with perfume-maker Chanel No. 5.

Last month, Britain's Daily Telegraph said Kidman violated the terms of her promotion agreement with the famed French perfume-maker when she was seen carrying a bottle of a rival fragrance while she was in the United Kingdom promoting her new film "The Golden Compass," Zap2it.com reported.

Kidman's attorney John Kelly argued the report caused the Oscar-winning actress to suffer embarrassment and distress.

The undisclosed amount of damages will be donated to the United Nations Development Fund for Woman, Zap2it.com said.
