Globes recognizes several new TV shows

HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Quite a few new TV shows, including "Mad Men," "Damages," "Pushing Daisies" and "The Tudors," were recognized with Golden Globe nods Thursday in Hollywood.

Competing in the category of best TV drama are "Big Love," "Damages," "Grey's Anatomy," "House," "Mad Men" and "The Tudors."

Up for the Golden Globe for best comedy series are "30 Rock," "Californication," "Entourage," "Extras" and "Pushing Daisies."

The actors nominated for their performance in a TV drama are Michael C. Hall,

Jon Hamm, Hugh Laurie, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Bill Paxton.

Shortlisted for the actor prize in the comedy category are Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, David Duchovny, Ricky Gervais and Lee Pace.

Actresses nominated for their work in a TV comedy are Christina Applegate, America Ferrara, Tina Fey, Anna Friel and Mary Louise Parker.

Nominated for best TV drama actress are Patricia Arquette, Glenn Close, Minnie Driver,

Edie Falco, Sally Field, Holly Hunter and Kyra Sedgwick.

The supporting actress nominees for television are Rose Byrne, Rachel Griffiths, Katherine Heigl, Samantha Morton, Anna Paquin and Jamie Pressly.

Competing for the supporting actor accolade are Ted Danson, Kevin Dillon, Jeremy Piven,

Andy Serkis, William Shatner and Donald Sutherland.
