Berlin film fest to show 'Blood,' 'SOP'

BERLIN, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- The drama "There Will Be Blood" and "SOP," a documentary about the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, will screen at the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival.

The event will mark the premiere of "SOP (Standard Operating Procedure,)" the latest offering from Oscar-winning documentarian Errol Morris, the BBC said.

"There Will Be Blood," starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Paul Dano and Ciaran Hinds, has been racking up year-end prizes and nominations in recent weeks.

Its director, Paul Thomas Anderson, took home the Berlin film festival's top award for "Magnolia" in 2004.

Also on the schedule for the 58th annual festival, which is set to run Feb. 7-17, are John Malkovich's new drama "Gardens of the Night," which is about two children kidnapped and held captive for nearly a decade; Isabella Rossellini's collection of short films about the sexual habits of bugs, aptly called "Green Porno"; and "Katyn," a drama helmed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Andrzej Wajda, which tells the story of how thousands of Polish prisoners of war were slaughtered by the Soviet secret service in 1940, the BBC said.
