LONDON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- A representative for Amy Winehouse says the British singer hopes to attend the upcoming Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
"Amy is thrilled to be nominated for six Grammys and is very much hoping to attend," her spokesperson told People magazine. "She is determined to be ready and well for that performance."
Winehouse's mother recently issued a public plea for the singer to get some help for her highly publicized troubles.
Winehouse has been making headlines all year for her apparent drug and alcohol use, and erratic behavior.
"This letter is my way of making sure that you know that all you have to do is come to us, Amy, and we'll do everything in our power to get you well again," Janis Winehouse wrote in a note published in the News of the World newspaper Sunday. "After all, you are still my baby and you always will be."
Winehouse's mother has reportedly spoken to her recently, but wrote the letter in hopes it would encourage the singer to come home where "we're here for you day and night."
"We want to help you, but we know that unless you want to be helped -- unless you come to us -- anything we tried would be in vain," Janis Winehouse wrote. "Remember: you're just an ordinary human being, no stronger than any of the rest of us."
People magazine said Winehouse is in a program and under the supervision of doctors.
"It's a really difficult time and she's been channeling it into her music," the representative said.
