TORONTO, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Imax says it plans to put 100 large-format digital-projection systems in AMC theaters in the United States during the next three years.

The joint venture signed Friday will double the number of the Toronto company's large-format screens in the United States, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

The deal will add as much as $35 million in cash annually to be shared by Imax and AMC, said the Reporter.

AMC, based in Kansas City, will retrofit existing multiplex theaters with an Imax digital-projection system. The theaters include six multiplexes in Los Angeles and six New York venues. Other locations to receive Imax projection systems include Chicago, Dallas and Philadelphia.
