LOS ANGELES, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- A U.S. reality TV series that would challenge 50 contestants to navigate the world's largest obstacle course for a $50,000 cash prize is in the works.

ABC has ordered a reality competition pilot from Endemol USA, the company behind the network's enormous hit "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," as well as the game shows "Deal or No Deal" and "1 vs. 100," The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

Called "Wipeout," the new competition show is being described by producers as "'Fear Factor' with none of the gross," the entertainment industry trade paper said.
