NEW YORK, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Starting Saturday, NBC will air 90-minute highlight specials of the New York-setting sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live" in prime time.

"The Best of Will Ferrell" will kick off the specials Saturday and be followed by "The Best of Chris Farley" Dec. 15 and "The Best of 2006-07" Dec. 22.

The following Saturday, Dec. 29, the network will air "Saturday Night Live Goes Commercial," an entire program dedicated to the show's commercial parodies, from early classics such as "Bass-O-Matic" and "Little Chocolate Doughnuts" to current favorites such as "Mom Jeans" and "Swiffer Sleepers."

The highlight shows are to air from 9:30-11 p.m. EST.

"SNL," like many other late-night television shows, has been shut down since the Writers Guild of America went on strike Nov. 5, forcing NBC to broadcast re-runs in the show's normal time slot.
