BURBANK , Calif., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- NBC Universal reportedly has laid off 65 of Oxygen Media's 260 employees in its takeover of the female-friendly network.
The layoffs affect all departments of Oxygen and include people at the vice-president level, Variety.com reported Tuesday.
"We have consolidated functions and operations, resulting in job impact," J.B. Perrette, president of distribution for NBC Universal, said in a statement.
Those made redundant are expected to stay on until the end of the year.
Perrette said the conglomerate will offer some of the workers "opportunities within NBC U where available" and those who leave will not only be paid until the end of the year, but get "enhanced severance packages and outplacement services."
NBC Universal paid $925 million for Oxygen Media two months ago, Variety.com said.
