LOS ANGELES, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- U.S. rock star Scott Weiland has been arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs in California's San Fernando Valley.
The frontman for Velvet Revolver and former Stone Temple Pilots singer was arrested after crashing his car and failing sobriety tests last month, the California Highway Patrol said in a statement issued to People.com.
No one was hurt in the accident.
Booked at the Van Nuys jail, Weiland refused to take a blood or urine test and was released after posting $40,000 bail, authorities said.
Although he is due in court Dec. 13, the singer has yet to be formally charged by the Los Angeles city attorney's office.
This is not Weiland's first brush with the law. He has battled substance abuse for years, was jailed for drug offenses in the 1990s and arrested on domestic-violence charges in 2001, People.com said.
