LONDON, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- The London stage musical based on the 1985 Madonna movie, "Desperately Seeking Susan," is set to close a month after its opening night, Playbill.com said.
Set to Blondie's catalog of songs, the show is slated to close Dec. 15.
"The producers wish to thank the talented cast, creative team and company for all their hard work and dedication to this production. Despite fantastic performances and enthusiastic audiences, the ticket sales have not been sufficient and the producers have had to make the difficult decision to close the show," the show's producers said in a statement.
Britain's Daily Mail reported the show has lost more than $7 million.
The musical will be replaced at the West End's Novello Theatre by "Shadowlands," William Nicholson's play about author C.S. Lewis.
