BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- The New York-set dramedy series, "Lipstick Jungle," based on a book by "Sex and the City" writer Candace Bushnell, is scheduled to debut in February.

Starring Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price, the show is to premiere on NBC at 10 p.m. EST, Feb. 7.

"This provocative new series is a fun, sexy look at strong women in New York City," Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, said in a statement.

"We are very excited about Candace Bushnell's larger-than-life characters -- as embodied by its perfect cast -- that has made 'Lipstick' a highly anticipated event since the network acquired the best-selling book."

The show also stars Andrew McCarthy of "St. Elmo's Fire" fame, Julian Sands from "24," David Alan Basche from "United 93" and David Norona from "Frasier."

Episodes of "ER" will continue in the Thursday 10-11 p.m. ET time slot through January when the Emmy Award-winning drama series completes its current run of original episodes. "Lipstick Jungle" will take over the slot starting Feb. 7.

Topics: Andrew McCarthy, Ben Silverman, Brooke Shields, Candace Bushnell, Kim Raver
