LONDON, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Amy Winehouse's decision to cancel the remaining dates on her 2007 U.K tour could end up costing the troubled singer more than $1 million.

Winehouse's representatives announced Tuesday she would not perform or make any promotional appearances for the rest of the year due to concerns about her health and her own worries about her incarcerated husband.

The announcement came just hours before a planned gig at the Bournemouth International Centre.

Gigs in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Belfast and Dublin have also been canceled.

Now Winehouse faces a bill for $1 million for backing out of the sold-out tour, as well as prohibitive insurance costs on future bookings, the Times of London reported Wednesday.

Despite the financial loss and disappointment of fans, Winehouse's mother, Janis, said she supports her daughter's decision.

"Amy's got to take the opportunity of getting herself fitter and stronger," Janis Winehouse said. "She thinks she's strong, but she isn't. I hope she uses the chance to fully recover. I hope she will take it easy for a while and then get back to writing new material. She has got to get herself clean. It is a matter of her personal survival."
