LOS ANGELES, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo has signed on to star in Martin Scorsese's adaptation of Dennis Lehane's novel, "Shutter Island," Zap2it.com reported Wednesday.
Lehane also penned the books that were the basis of the critically acclaimed movies "Mystic River" and "Gone Baby Gone."
Ruffalo was most recently seen in "Reservation Road" and "Zodiac."
Also starring in "Shutter Island" will be frequent Scorsese collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio.
Set in 1954, the mystery is about a U.S. marshal (DiCaprio) investigating the disappearance of a patient at a hospital for the criminally insane in the midst of a hurricane, Zap2it.com said.
Ruffalo will play DiCaprio's partner.
The movie is set to begin production in March.
