LOS ANGELES, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Aliette Vazquez has broken off her engagement to Brazilian race-car driver Helio Castroneves and the pair has not spoken in weeks, TMZ.com said.

Vazquez, a business executive, dated the "Dancing with the Stars" winner for more than six years and was engaged to him for a year.

"There have been a lot of rumors and a lot of misinformation out there," Vazquez's representative, Howard Bragman, told TMZ.com, adding that his client "wanted to set the record straight."

"This is a personal decision and I ask the media to respect the privacy of Miss Vazquez and her family. She has no plans to talk to the media, but reserves that right if she needs to clarify misinformation or defend her reputation," Bragman said.

Castroneves and partner Julianne Hough won the TV dance competition Tuesday night, beating fellow finalists Marie Osmond, Melanie Brown and their partners for the honor.
