BEIJING, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Action hero Jet Li's new film, "The Warlords," has made him the highest paid actor in a Chinese-language movie, the BBC reported Monday.

Li, the 44-year-old star of "Hero" and "Lethal Weapon 4," earned more than $13 million for his new flick.

"Without Jet Li, we would not dare to invest ($40 million) in a Chinese-language film," director Peter Chan told the Xinhua news agency.

"The Warlords" is slated for release in Asia next month.
