Star Jones discusses gastric surgery

NEW YORK, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. television personality Star Jones ended years of speculation by admitting her dramatic weight loss was due to gastric bypass surgery.

Although Jones underwent the procedure in 2003, she didn't confirm it was what helped her lose 160 pounds until this past August.

"The only reason I am talking to you today is to help other women understand they are not by themselves. They are not alone," Jones told "Access Hollywood."

Asked if she regrets not saying something sooner, Jones replied: "I really wished, God, I could have. I really do. If there's a regret, that's it.

"The regret is I wish I was stronger," she said.
