Donahue doc draws praise, no distributor

Nov. 23, 2007 at 8:59 PM

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- "Body of War," produced and co-directed by U.S. TV host Phil Donahue, has made the short list of documentaries to compete for Oscar nominations.

Only five of the 15 documentaries on the short list can be nominated for an Academy Award in the category.

Co-directed by Ellen Spiro, the anti-Iraq War film about a paraplegic veteran has been received warmly at film festivals, but still does not have a distributor.

"We have some tantalizing interest, and we remain hopeful it will be in a theater near you early next year," Donahue told politico.com. "There's been interesting bites, but no firm offer. We're not saying we're better, but we feel we're different than anything out there."
