King surprised by Adams' walkout

NEW YORK, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- U.S. television host Larry King admits he could scarcely believe it when plastic surgeon Jan Adams walked out of an interview on his talk show Tuesday.

"I was thinking, 'This isn't happening ... I see it, but I don't believe it,'" King said on CNN.com. "I have had fires in the studio. I have had people fight. I have had people hit each other on the set ... punch each other."

Scheduled to be a guest on "Larry King Live," Adams showed up, but then declined to be interviewed.

Published reports said Adams -- the doctor who performed cosmetic surgery on Kanye West's mother, Donda, shortly before she died Nov. 10 -- was previously sued for malpractice and arrested for drunken driving.

"I had come here to talk about things in the press that aren't accurate about me. But I have a tremendous amount of love and respect for the West family and they've asked me not to go on," Adams said before walking off the set.

"He hung around for the whole show," King said. "And at the end of the show, he hugged me."
