Jonathan Rhys Meyers' mom dies

CORK, Ireland, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- The mother of actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has died in Ireland at the age of 50, it was reported Wednesday.

Geraldine Meyers-O'Keeffe died in a hospital in Cork on Tuesday after suffering from a short illness, the BBC said.

Her 30-year-old son, whose high-profile Hollywood movie "August Rush" opened in the United States Wednesday, was arrested this week for alleged public drunkenness and breach of the peace in Dublin airport.

Rhys Meyers, the star of TV's "The Tudors" and the Woody Allen film "Match Point," is scheduled to appear in court next month.
