LONDON, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- About 2,000 guests turned out to help England's Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Monday.

The guest list, CNN reported, included members of the royal family, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former British leaders Margaret Thatcher and John Major, past and present royal household staff, and some of Prince Philip's German relatives.

A service of thanksgiving was held at London's Westminster Abbey, where the couple's wedding took place.

Monday's diamond wedding gala took place a day before their actual anniversary.

Queen Elizabeth is now the longest-married monarch in British history, CNN noted.
