Damon Dash among New York tax deadbeats

NEW YORK, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Diamond wearing hip-hop mogul Damon Dash and photographer Annie Leibovitz are on the list of celebrities owing back taxes in New York.

Dash, with an estimated fortune of $50 million, owes the state more than $2 million while Leibovitz is on the hook for $135,916, The New York Post reported Sunday.

Dash, who owns a $400,000 Maybach sedan, and Leibovitz are among nearly 225,000 debtors who, in all, owed the city and state more than $1 billion in income taxes, penalties and interest as of Friday, tax records showed.

Actress Cicely Tyson owed $124,320 and Tony-winner Ben Vereen owed $119,825 while composer Andre Previn owed $30,938, the Post reported.

Musician John Cale owed $157,743 while Ornette Coleman, who won the Pulitzer Prize for music this year, owed $7,814, the Post said.
