LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Beyonce won the international artist prize at the 2007 American Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Sunday.

She is the first female artist ever to win the award.

"I am so blessed to wake up every morning and do what I love to do," she told the audience. "I don't take it for granted. I'm so grateful, I'm so honored and I'm so humbled by this award."

Beyonce was nominated for favorite female soul/rhythm and blues artist, but lost to Rihanna.

Later in the evening, Fergie beat Beyonce out for the favorite pop or rock female artist title.
