Will Smith nervous about daughter dating
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- The fantasy adventure drama "Beowulf" burst into U.S. movie theaters with industry-best ticket sales, it was reported Sunday.
The Robert Zemeckis movie, starring Anthony Hopkins, had $28.1 million in estimated ticket sales in its first weekend, nearly double that of "Bee Movie," which slipped back to No. 2 with $14.3 million, Box Office Mojo reported.
"American Gangster" moved down to No. 3 at $13.22 million, followed by "Fred Claus" at $12. million. Another new movie, "Mr. Margorium's Wonder Emporium," a kids' fantasy film starring Dustin Hoffman, debuted at No. 5 with $10.03 million in sales.
Rounding out the Top 10 were "Dan in Real Life," down from fifth with $4.51 million; "No Country for Old Men," which moved up from 15th with $3.1 million; "Lions for Lambs," dropping from fourth with $2.9 million; "Saw IV," down from sixth at $2.33 million; and another new film, "Love in the Time of Cholora," a romance directed by Mike Newell, with $1.92 million.
Dropping out of the top tier were "The Game Plan," "30 Days of Night" and "P2."
