BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential hopeful, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, plans to show his support for the Writers Guild of America by joining a picket line.

The WGA said Edwards would take part in Friday's union rally outside of NBC Entertainment in Burbank, California.

After negotiations with major entertainment conglomerates broke down Nov. 4, the WGA went on strike the following day in Los Angeles and New York.

Several California office-holders, including state Sen. Ron Calderon of Montebello, Assembly members Felipe Fuentes of the San Fernando Valley, Mike Davis of South Los Angeles and Fiona Ma of San Francisco, and several Los Angeles City Council members, also planned to picket with striking writers outside CBS Television City Friday.
