Warhol's 'Liz' sold for $23.7 million

NEW YORK, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- "Liz," Andy Warhol's portrait of Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor, was sold at auction in New York to an anonymous bidder for $23.7 million.

The 1963 silk-screen print, which published reports said was sold by British actor Hugh Grant, was expected to go for more than $25 million at the Christie's sale.

The auction house wouldn't confirm reports Grant sold the portrait of the London-born actress after he bought it in 2001 for $15 million, BBC News said Tuesday.
