Comic book artists draw a crowd

SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Fans had a cow when comic book artist and "Simpson's" empire creative director Bill Morrison appeared at the first Comic Book Conference in Salt Lake City.

Morrison's drawings of the animated Simpson family appear on almost every piece of merchandise related to the television series, making him a guest of honor at the conference -- which featured other comic book luminaries such as Supernatural Law editor Jackie Estrada and Archie Comics writer and artist Bill Galvan, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Sunday.

"It's really exciting to see someone firsthand who creates something you enjoy," said Mimi Cruz, owner of Night Flight Comics, the Salt Lake City store that sponsored the conference.

"I wanted to do something that celebrates comics and makes them accessible," Cruz told the Tribune.
