LOS ANGELES, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- George Osmond, the father of U.S. television stars and singers Donny and Marie Osmond, has died at the age of 90, "Entertainment Tonight" reported.
The program reported that Donny Osmond had been in the studio Tuesday morning preparing to tape a segment when he heard the news about his father's death.
On Monday, he told "ET" presenter Mary Hart about a recent visit with his father.
"I walk in and he just lights up and he says, 'Donny ... I love you,'" Osmond recalled. "He doesn't say much, but when he saw me and said, 'Donny I love you' ... my 90-year-old dad ... who can't do much, but when he says, 'I love you,' that's all he needs to do."
The Osmond family had planned to tape an appearance for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Thursday to air Friday. Osmond said he would consult the rest of his family and see whether they would cancel their "Oprah" appearance.
