LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Showtime has ordered a fourth season of its U.S. comedy series "Weeds," the Hollywood Reporter said Monday.

The subscription cable TV network has commissioned 13 new episodes of the original half-hour series starring Mary-Louise Parker, the trade paper said.

In the show, Parker plays a widowed, suburban mother who turns to selling marijuana to pay the bills.

Production is slated to start in April for a summer debut, however, that date may be affected by the Writers Guild of America strike.
