LONDON, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Some former "Doctor Who" characters, along with at least one British literary figure, will appear in a new series of the popular British TV show.

Not only will actress Freema Agyeman return to the series as Martha Jones, but the doctor will also be reunited with the Sontarans -- his former enemies who have not appeared on the series in 35 years -- the BBC reported Sunday.

During his new adventures, the doctor will reportedly also cross paths with author Agatha Christie and will be joined onscreen by former "Blackadder" actor Tim McInnerny.

Other notable guest stars will include "Bleak House" actor Phil Davis, Peter Capaldi, Felicity Kendal and Sarah Lancashire.

The new version of the long-running sci-fi series -- which was named the top TV drama at last week's National TV Awards -- will also feature a new companion for the doctor, a character named Donna Noble, played by Catherine Tate.
