NEW YORK, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Hollywood stars Mark Ruffalo, Ethan Hawke and Amanda Peet have signed on to headline Brian Goodman's feature-film directorial debut, "Real Men Cry."
Goodman, who has appeared in numerous Boston-set films since the 1990s, wrote the screenplay for "Real Men" with fellow Boston natives Donnie Wahlberg and Paul T. Murray, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The film was inspired by actual people and events in Goodman's life.
In the movie, Hawke and Ruffalo will play childhood friends and small-time crooks in South Boston.
"I sat down with Mark and Ethan and told them, 'You are two on a very short list of men who could've been in films 35 years ago, when men were men,'" Goodman told the trade paper.
Peet has been cast as the wife of Ruffalo's character.
