LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- A late creative burst helped turn California rock veterans the Eagles' new album into a two-CD set.

The group started making "Long Road Out of Eden," its first batch of all-new material in 28 years, during 2001. But co-founder Glenn Frey said the quartet "got serious" about finishing it in January 2006.

"As we started to really gain some momentum in the studio, a lot more material started coming and the album got bigger and bigger and bigger," Frey said. "You start to feel like, 'Gosh, since we haven't made a record in so long, wouldn't it be nice if we could give people more than 12 songs?'

"So now we've got this double record."

"Long Road Out of Eden" is being sold exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores and at www.eaglesband.com.
