Tenor Watson has emergency brain surgery

LONDON, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- British opera singer Russell Watson has undergone emergency surgery to treat an aggressive brain tumor, Sky News reported Thursday.

Watson was taken to Alexandra Hospital in Cheshire after complaining of headaches reportedly while he was recording new material in his studio.

He had the operation Thursday morning after he visited with his children.

The 40-year-old tenor had surgery last year to remove a benign brain tumor.

Watson was a factory worker who performed at nightclubs as a second job when he was discovered singing Puccini's "Nessum Dorma," Sky News said.

He has since sold more than four million albums worldwide.
