LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Right-wing writer Ann Coulter's visit to the University of Southern California was met with protests by Muslim students and their supporters.

The 230 or so people who attended Coulter's talk, however, responded to her remarks with cheers and standing ovations, The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

"The fact of Islamo-Fascism is indisputable," she said. "I find it tedious to detail the savagery of the enemy ... I want to kill them. Why don't Democrats?"

Coulter's speech was part of a series of events dubbed "Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week" by organizer David Horowitz.

"This is a greater threat than the Nazis or the communists because these people have modern technologies," said Horowitz. "They want to exterminate Jews and impose religious law on everyone through the state."

Horowitz told the Times he does not brand all Muslims as Islamo-Fascists. He said he differentiates between those he considers moderate and radical Muslims.

"Horowitz says this is not an attack on Islam," said Hussam Ayloush of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "But we say specifically that it is an attack on Islam, on the Muslim community and particularly on Muslim students who attend the schools where these events are being held."
