RZA taking acting career seriously

NEW YORK, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. hip-hop artist RZA said he is taking his film acting career very seriously.

RZA has appeared in the movies "Derailed," "Ghost Dog" and the upcoming "American Gangster."

"I take it very serious," RZA told reporters Saturday in New York. "Being a thespian is a serious craft. Many people go to school for this, get scholarships, dedicate their whole lives to it. So, what I try to do is really take it serious. Got a couple of books, couple of coaches. Try to keep myself prepared as I can to do the job."

RZA said he also sees a big difference between his experiences as a movie actor and a recording artist.

"I think acting is one of the most spoiled jobs you can get. You're on the set and you're sitting there and you're like, 'I need some Lays and some Red Bull,' and two production assistants go get it. … I've been the head of Wu-Tang Clan and I'm always the one who has got to do this or do that and make sure things are right. But when I’m doing these films and people kind of wait on me, it really feels very, very pleasurable."
