NEW YORK, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Jailed U.S. rapper Foxy Brown has been removed from the general population and locked away in a segregated cell for committing offenses while in prison.
Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was isolated Oct. 16 and is expected to stay in her new living quarters for 76 days, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
She was removed from the general jail population after she allegedly got into a shoving match with another inmate, became verbally abusive toward correction officers and refused to take a random drug test, sources told the Post.
The new arrangement means Marchand could spend up to 23 hours alone in her cell.
For an hour each day, she is allowed to see visitors, meet with an attorney, go to the library or exercise in a recreation area away from general-population inmates, the newspaper said.
Marchand could face more disciplinary charges after correction officials review a case involving her refusal to board a Rikers Island bus at least twice to go to a scheduled Oct. 12 court date in Brooklyn.
The recording artist was sentenced last month to a year in jail for violating her probation after several arrests.
