LOS ANGELES , Oct. 22 (UPI) -- The writing team behind Bryan Singer's blockbusters "Superman Returns" and "X2: X-Men United" won't return for the next Superman adventure.
Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris decided not to write the sequel to the 2006 movie, "Superman Returns" and Warner Bros. is fielding ideas for the next Man of Steel outing from other writers.
The studio is also trying to cast the role of Superman in its superhero ensemble picture, "Justice League," Variety.com reported Monday.
Dougherty recently directed his first film, "Trick 'R Treat," and plans to write a graphic novel and children's book, the trade paper said.
Harris, who previously directed "Imaginary Heroes," is writing and set to direct "I, Lucifer," based on Peter O'Donnell's book. "Casino Royale" star Daniel Craig is attached to star in that project.
