NEW YORK, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Amanda Peet says she was saddened to hear her 2006-07 TV drama "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" wouldn't be back for a second season.

Told the first season was wrapped up nicely, almost as if it was created as a one-season, self-contained story, Peet replied: "Yeah. I really wish it hadn't been self-contained."

"I really loved working for ('Studio 60' creator) Aaron (Sorkin,)" Peet told reporters while promoting her new big-screen family drama, "Martian Child" in New York Saturday.

"I really wish I could work for (Sorkin) again as soon as possible. Nobody really writes for women the way he does. He really is such a feminist. Sorry to sound like an annoying Columbia (University) student, but he really is. The character of Jordan McDeere was so brilliant and I wish we could have gone on longer."

The actress said that when her husband, screenwriter David Benioff, read the script for the "Studio 60" pilot, he told her: "This is one of the best things I have ever read -- movie, TV, play. ... I think you're insane if you don't try to do it."
