LONDON, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Opera star Luciano Pavarotti died owing more than $24 million in bank overdrafts and mortgage payments, it was reported Sunday.

The tenor, who died last month at the age of 71, owned properties in New York, Monte Carlo and Italy, and was estimated to have a personal fortune of more than $400 million, The Daily Mail reported.

However, his "liquid capital" was $28 million with overdrafts of more than $14 million and mortgage payments due of more than $10 million, said reports in the Italian media.

After debts are paid, the tenor's estate is to be divided between his three daughters from his first marriage and his second wife, Nicoletta Mantovani, with whom Pavarotti had one child.
