SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Michael Douglas' 28-year-old son Cameron will stand trial on cocaine possession charges stemming from a July arrest in Santa Barbara, Calif., TMZ.com said.

Cameron Douglas, who appeared with his father and grandfather, Kirk Douglas, in the 2003 film "It Runs in the Family," has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic needle.

At a pretrial hearing, charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance were added for Douglas, based on the testimony of a Santa Barbara County, Calif., Sheriff's deputy, TMZ.com said.

Cameron and friend Christopher Lane were arrested July 22 after police found them in a car allegedly with a syringe, containing liquid cocaine, on the floorboard.

The arresting officer alleges Lane told him the syringe was his.

Both men are to return for arraignment on Nov. 16.
