LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. television and film star John Goodman has quietly sought treatment and successfully completed a rehab program, E! News said Thursday.
"For my family and myself, I voluntarily took the necessary steps to remain sober the rest of my life," the former "Roseanne" actor said in a statement issued by his publicist, Stan Rosenfield.
Media reports said Goodman was treated at Promises Malibu for an undisclosed addiction.
It is unclear when the "Big Lebowski" and "Evan Almighty" star was admitted or released from the facility or what the length of his stay was, E! noted.
Goodman, who won his first Emmy Award for a guest role as a country judge on NBC's now-defunct "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," recently finished work on the films "Speed Racer" and "In the Electric Mist."
His voice will also be heard starting Nov. 2 in Jerry Seinfeld's animated "Bee Movie."
