LOS ANGELES, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Kristen Bell and her boyfriend Kevin Mann have broken up, People.com reported Wednesday.

Bell is best-known for her portrayal of a young private detective on the now-defunct TV series, "Veronica Mars." She joined the ensemble on "Heroes" this season.

Mann produced the films "Fanboys" and "Fifty Pills."

"Dating is scary," Bell told People.

But she also said being alone is giving her time for a little introspection.

"When you are single, you've got to be accountable," she explained. "You wake up in the morning and go to bed at night thinking about who you really are. It's good. But dating is scary."

Fortunately, Bell has her new job on "Heroes" and cast-mates to keep her busy.

"We went bowling two weekends ago. Jack Coleman organized a big bowling extravaganza," Bell said. "They are just a really nice group of normal people, and I love them. I couldn't have imagined a warmer welcome."
