NEW YORK, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- In her new memoir, "Celebrity Detox," U.S. television personality Rosie O'Donnell expresses admiration for strong women such as Barbra Streisand and Jane Fonda.
The book, which alludes to losing her mother to cancer when she was 10, covers O'Donnell's stormy year on "The View" and feud with businessman Donald Trump, Newsday reported. But she saves her most glowing verbiage for the women she has come to know as an adult.
"Streisand is a direct connection to the light," O'Donnell writes in the book. "She transmits at a frequency that comes in very clearly to nearly all of the population that samples her. Her channel comes in true and strong."
O'Donnell is equally enthusiastic in describing a visit Fonda made to her house.
"That was a moment of near complete clarity for me, with her in my kitchen, and thinking of her sitting on a tank in Hanoi in 1972 and speaking of peace at a time when I knew that peace was the answer because children know; their souls are closer to God. She inspired me as a child and here she was in my living room continuing to inspire me."
