Police cancel UK dates because of illness

LONDON, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Sting's throat infection has caused The Police to cancel this week's reunion concerts in Manchester, England, the BBC reported.

The engagements were scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at the MEN Arena.

The popular rock group also had to cancel two concerts in Germany and another in Belgium last week because of Sting's ailment.

Live Nation, the tour's promoters, said they hope to reschedule the dates soon.

The Police began a five-month world tour in May and have been playing to sold-out houses.

The band is scheduled to perform their last two European concerts in Cardiff on Friday and London on Saturday, but it is not yet clear whether those dates will also be canceled.
