Shannon to star in NBC sit-com pilot

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Hollywood comic actress Molly Shannon signed on to play one of the title characters in the new NBC sit-com pilot, "Kath and Kim," the Hollywood Reporter said.

The show is an adaptation of a hit Australian series about a dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship.

Shannon is set to play the mother, but the daughter has not yet been cast.
