NEW YORK, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Hollywood comedian Bob Saget is set to take over the role of Man in Chair in the Broadway musical "The Drowsy Chaperone."

The stand-up comedian and former "Full House" dad will start his new job playing a modern-day man, obsessed with glitzy musicals from the past Oct. 19. Saget replaces Jonathan Crombie, who will be taking over the same role in the musical's national tour when it arrives in Cleveland.

Saget is slated to perform in the New York production through February, Playbill.com has reported, adding "Chaperone" marks the funnyman's Broadway debut.

The host of the hit NBC game show "1 vs. 100" made his off-Broadway debut in Paul Weitz's play "Privilege" in 2005. "The Drowsy Chaperone" won five Tony Awards.
