NEW YORK, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Scottish singer Annie Lennox acknowledges using her music to voice her own positions regarding the current state of world affairs.
CBS' "Sunday Morning" reported the four-time Grammy Award winner said she typically uses her music to comment on world affairs, including Africa's AIDS/HIV pandemic.
"In a way I use my music as a kind of vehicle and platform from a broader base where I can talk about these issues," Lennox aid. "Because I think they are immensely important. And why wouldn't people want to know what an artist thinks about, you know, issues that are of incredible relevance to our present day life?"
Lennox, who first burst onto the music scene while with the Eurythmics, also told CBS News her creativity helps fuel her music.
"I don't believe in finding a formula that works commercially and then you do the same thing again because, you know, it worked the last time: 'We'll do it again.' That's really boring for me," she said. "I like to experiment and explore with music. That's the joy of the creative process."
